Ellen Warkentine
Ellen Warkentine is a composer and performer from California, based in Brooklyn, New York. She has collaborated with Mat Sweeney on many Four Larks projects since 2009, including The Master & Margarita, Orpheus, the Temptation of St Antony, and Hymns. They received an of Ovation Honors Awards for Original Musical Composition for A Play (2015, Temptation of St. Antony). A composer of avant-pop, lover of early jazz, creator of variety and novelty songs, Ellen is currently completing her MA from Gallatin at NYU in music theatre innovation. She recently released ""Now At Last"" (March 2) an album of ""weirdo"" jazz standards through Big Ego Records, featuring songs by theatrical composers Kurt Weill and Marc Blitzstein, among others. She is a collaborator on the electronic music duo ""Lady in the Microfiche."" Currently Ellen is developing a song cycle of Rilke's ""Book of Monastic Life"" and writing music for The Kinetic Cabaret circus coming to Brooklyn April 2022.
