RIP LA STAGE ALLIANCE

On Tuesday night we got to virtually huddle with the heroes pictured below for a peer-judged celebration of LA theatre at the 31st Ovation Awards, and watch the Wallis collect honors for our Frankenstein across all categories. We’re also celebrating the activism of our colleagues that has emerged in response to the ceremony.

We stand in solidarity with East West Players against the erasure of AAPI artists. We’re proud of our colleagues raising a conversation about visibility, exclusion, accessibility, and the institutional racism that pervades the performing arts, especially EWP AD Snehal Desai for leading the way. We hope the white LA theatre institutions hashtagging away their membership to a defunct organization (#leavinglasa) will meaningfully engage with Snehal’s post and the interectional issues raised and take advantage of this opportunity for actionable change and equitable reinvention.
